Meet Meg Patterson
Founder of Tutoring for Excellence and creator of the Overwhelmed to Unstoppable™ training system.
For more than a decade, Meg has worked closely with students and families navigating one of the most challenging seasons of life – the years when young people are learning how to take ownership of their time, their habits, and their future.
Over the years, Meg has learned something most parents eventually discover: when a student struggles in school, the real problem is rarely intelligence – it’s usually structure, confidence, or direction that hasn’t fully taken shape yet.
Where this Work Began
Meg began her career teaching high school English in North Carolina, where she quickly noticed a pattern.
Many students were bright, capable, and full of personality – yet quietly disconnected from school.
It wasn’t because they lacked intelligence.
Often something else was missing: structure, direction, confidence, or a clear understanding of why their work mattered.
She found herself wanting to do something teachers rarely have time to do – sit beside a student, slow down, and help them learn how to take ownership of their learning and their life.
That instinct eventually became the foundation of Tutoring for Excellence.

Training and Experience
Meg’s training spans reading education (M.Ed.), secondary English education, special education, and the study of how students learn and change.
Her academic background also includes degrees in political science and speech–communication, fields that shaped her understanding of systems, leadership, and how people grow within them.
Over the years she has worked with students with ADHD, dyslexia, learning differences, and widely different personalities – from discouraged students rebuilding confidence to high achievers seeking greater direction.
Tutoring for Excellence was recognized as a Best of Georgia education provider for three consecutive years, reflecting the impact of this work within the Atlanta community.
Because Meg’s approach is highly individualized and collaborative, she works with a limited number of families at a time.
A Different Kind of Tutoring
What began as academic tutoring gradually evolved into something much broader.
Over years of working closely with families, Meg began noticing that the same breakthroughs kept happening when certain pieces were in place:
- students understood how their brain works
- families created structure at home
- students developed direction and identity
- consistent academic habits were trained over time
Those patterns eventually became the framework now known as The Four Roads to Excellence™, a system that strengthens the brain, the habits, the home, and the heart.
Today Meg’s work combines academic training, habit formation, family alignment, and identity development – helping students build the internal structure they need to thrive not only in school, but in life.
Working with Families
Meg partners closely with both parents and students, helping families create systems that support growth academically and at home.
Over the past decade she has worked with families throughout the Atlanta area as well as students in other states through online coaching.
Her goal is not simply to help students improve their grades.
It is to help them become the kind of people who know how to guide their own lives.
When students develop discipline, confidence, and direction, the results reach far beyond the classroom.
A Personal Note
Meg believes that every student carries far more potential than they often realize.
With the right structure, encouragement, and accountability, that potential can come to life.
When she isn’t working with families, Meg enjoys life in Atlanta – especially time with friends at outdoor concerts and dancing events.
One of Meg’s favorite adventures has been performing with the Stayin’ Alive Crew, a 50+ dance team that appears around the city – including performances at Atlanta Hawks games.
Moments like that remind her that vision boards aren’t just exercises.
Sometimes they turn into real life.
What Drives This Work
At the heart of Tutoring for Excellence is a simple belief:
When students learn how to grow – and families learn how to support that growth – remarkable things begin to happen.
